Policy

The College maintains an open-door policy for all students who are high school graduates, have earned a General Education Development (GED) certificate, or are at least 18 years of age. Applicants for programs that are targeted to specific populations under the age of 18 may be admitted under the specific guidelines established for each program. Students still attending High School (Junior and Senior level) can apply for admissions under the Running Start program. Students under the age of 16 may be admitted under the Underage Admissions process  but must meet the specific guidelines and necessary placement to be eligible for said program.

Admission to the College does not guarantee admission to a specific area of study. Some programs require additional applications and are limited or competitive-entry programs. Programs that require additional criteria for admission into the major will establish the guidelines that are approved by the College. These selective admission programs may require a non-refundable fee. Prerequisite coursework may be required in some selective programs. Students in certain selective admission programs (e.g., Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Medical Lab Technology) are required to submit to a background investigation prior to entry.

Selected Shoreline College courses may also require students to demonstrate existing knowledge and skills prior to enrollment. Shoreline College allows for multiple methods of placement into such courses.
