Student Fees

The Associated Student Government (ASG) manages three student fees:

• Services & Activities (S&A) Fee
• Sustainability & Commuter Options Fee (SCOF)
• Student Technology Fee

Each fee is overseen by a student-led committee made up of ASG members, with support from faculty and staff advisors.

These fees help fund a wide range of student services, including:

Advising & Running Start

Advising is a process based on a close student-advisor relationship intended to help students achieve their educational, career, and personal goals through use of college and community resources.

An advisor can help you:

• Make a plan to complete degree or certificate requirements
• Register for classes for next quarter
• Explore career options and determine which academic pathway supports your goals
• Navigate your college experience and connect you to resources
• Learn about transferring to a four-year college or university

Assessment & Testing Center

The Testing Center provides placement testing for Shoreline students. Informed Self-Placement (ISP) for English and ALEKS Math Assessment may be taken online at home or in the testing center.

Athletics

Shoreline Community College proudly supports seven intercollegiate sports teams across three seasons:

• Fall: Women's Volleyball, Men's & Women's Soccer
• Winter: Men's & Women's Basketball
• Spring: Men's Baseball, Women's Softball

All SCC students get free admission to home games—just bring your current student ID or ctcLink ID number and show your Phin pride. Whether you're in the stands or on the sidelines, you're part of Phin Nation, where school spirit runs deep and the energy is electric.

Benefits Hub

Are you struggling to access essential resources like food, housing, or childcare? Do you need help to lower a Utility Bill? Have you received an Eviction Notice? The Benefits Hub can provide potential solutions and support!

Are you struggling financially and can't afford to buy food, hygiene items or clothing? Please come and visit the Benefits Hub located in the Student Union Building (9000) room 9102, to access our food, hygiene, or clothing pantries.

We are supported by a partnership between Shoreline College and the United way of King County (UWKC).

Financial Aid

We believe students from all economic backgrounds should have the opportunity to attend Shoreline Community College.

Students may complete one of two applications:

• The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
• The Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) for students who do not qualify for federal aid.

We offer grants, loans and work-study options (depending on your eligibility) to help make paying for college as affordable as possible.

Guided Pathways Program Assistants (GUPPIES)

Guided Pathways Program Assistants (GPPAs or "Guppies" for short) are here to help you navigate the nuts-and-bolts of college.

Whether it's getting ready to register for classes, choosing a Shoreline Pathway that's right for you, pursuing funding for college, navigating online tools like Handshake, PathwayU, Starfish, or OCEANS, or just putting one foot in front of the other to get your quarter going smoothly, Guppies are swimming alongside you to demystify the college navigation experience!

You can find them in the Advising Center on the second floor of the 5000 building.

International Education Study Abroad

Want to see the world? Studying abroad is the ideal way to broaden your horizons. More than just traveling, studying abroad allows you to dive deep into local cultures and histories with the guidance of experts. And while you're a student, you can use financial aid and apply for scholarships!

Shoreline is an active member of the Washington State Community College Consortium for Study Abroad (WCCCSA). Through the Consortium, quarter-long, 15-credit programs are offered during fall, winter and spring quarters to destinations in Europe, Australia and Japan. Four-week, 5-credit programs are offered during summer quarter, currently to South Korea, and to Costa Rica.

International Student Leaders

International Student Leaders (ISLs) are a team of current students who work in the International Education department. The mission of the ISLs is to help international students achieve cross-cultural experiences and academic successes at Shoreline. They hold several events every quarter, which are open to ALL students! Past events include Graduation Prom, Bainbridge Island Trip, Global Showcase, and Dodgeball Tournament.

Intramurals & Wellness

Each quarter, Intramurals & Wellness provides a wide range of free opportunities to support a healthy lifestyle, including open gym hours, fitness center access, and both in-person and virtual classes such as yoga and personal training.

Shoreline believes that students need a broad range of fundamental skills to succeed, so these Shoreline Student Learning Outcomes are taught in all degree pathways:

Written Communication:

Located on the bottom floor of the 9000 building, the Game Room is open Monday-Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Student Accessibility Services

Student Accessibility Services (SAS) provides support and reasonable accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities attending classes both on campus and online, as well as to those in the Residence Hall. Student Ambassadors are a team of current students eager to help their peers connect to campus community.

You can see them representing at Dolphin Day, Ask Me Stations, Outreach Events, Campus Tours, and the PUB Desk, and promoting and participating in the awesome social and educational events held on campus!

Student Learning Center

The Student Learning Center (SLC) provides free tutoring and academic support, in-person and online, for all Shoreline Community College students in a friendly, safe, and inclusive environment.

Whether you're looking for help with a specific class, assignment, or concept, prepping for an exam, or simply looking for a positive place to study, the SLC is at your service.

Students may schedule appointments through Starfish or simply drop by one of our centers located in the library (4000 building).

The Honors College

The Honors College is a close-knit community of learners who will help push you academically!

Students choose from "honorized" classes that meet graduation requirements.

In their second year, students can join the Research Track and conduct in-depth research, with the possibility of presenting at the University of Washington Undergraduate Research Symposium.

Additional benefits include dedicated academic advising, special events, a Leadership Seminar, paid Phi Teta Kappa International Honor Society membership, and a Transfer Seminar.

Applications are accepted year-round.

Veteran & Military Student Services

Whether you are a veteran, currently serving, or a dependent/family member, Veteran & Military Student Services (VMSS) is ready to support you!

VMSS works to help students navigate VA and other military benefits, as well as provide mentorship and community through the Veterans Resource Center (VRC).

Students can use the VRC to study, socialize, and decompress as they transition from military to college life.

Our staff also provides advising for military-connected students, and can help you get connected with on-campus and community resources through both referral and periodic resource events in the VRC.
