Paid Family Medical Leave Program (PFML) – Family and medical leave insurance program which provides reasonable paid family leave for eligible employees under the provisions of RCW 50A.

Supplemental Leave – Paid leave taken in additional to any paid family or medical leave benefits received by an employee under the PFML program, excluding the use of shared leave donations received.

Procedural Guidelines:

Employees at Shoreline College may use supplemental leave at their discretion during periods of approved absences under the PFML program administered through Washington State. The use of supplemental leave in accordance with this policy shall cause no impact to an employee’s PFML wage replacement amount.

In alignment with each pay period’s deadlines for report of leave submission:

  1. Employees submit their report of supplemental leave taken during an approved PFML absence through the College’s time-reporting system.
  2. Employee notifies the Payroll Office by email to payroll@shoreline.edu with the identification of the specific days/hours of leave being submitted as PFML supplemental leave.
