Eligible Positions – Permanent full-time faculty positions, administrative positions which supervise, or other administrative and classified positions for which the filling of the position is essential to critical work of the College.

Lump Sum Relocation Payment – A payment made by the College within existing budgetary resources to an eligible new employee in a qualified position.

Procedural Guidelines

The President may authorize a state-contracted move or a lump sum relocation payment when it is determined as necessary for the successful recruitment and retention of a qualified candidate into an eligible position.  The amount of relocation payment provided is determined at the discretion of the President in consideration of the availability of qualified candidates, the skills and qualifications of the candidate, and the difficulty of the recruitment process.

Supervisors of eligible positions may request approval for relocation payment authorization by written request to the President. Requests for relocation payments to non-supervisor administrators or for classified staff positions must include the additional information outlined under SAAM 60.10.30.b.

If the employee receiving the relocation payment terminates or causes termination of their employment with the College within one (1) year of the date of hire, the College will be entitled to reimbursement for the moving costs which have been paid. Termination as a result of layoff, disability separation, or other good cause as determined by the President will not require the employee to repay the relocation compensation
