Purpose
This policy addresses situations where employees or students may want to bring a child (under 18 years old) to campus for a brief period of time; it does not apply to minors who are enrolled in classes or participating in campus events. Such instances are permitted under specific conditions, provided the child’s presence does not disrupt College operations, violate FERPA, or compromise health and safety standards.
Scope
This policy applies to all College spaces, offices and any other campus location where employees have a designated non-instructional workspace.
Policy
- Employees who are parents or legal guardians may bring their child to campus with prior approval of a supervisor provided these instances are infrequent and non-recurring.
- Children not enrolled at the College must remain under continuous supervision by their parent or guardian unless participating in a College-sanctioned program.
- Per FERPA requirements, children may not access class rosters, gradebooks, or any identifying student information.
- Parents or guardians must directly supervise their child at all times.
Instructor & Supervisor Authority
Supervisors, or administrators may require children to leave if:
- There is a disruption,
- The child is brought too frequently
- Other policy violations occur.
Concerns & Enforcement
Any concerns about disruption, safety, should be reported to the appropriate dean, supervisor, or administrator. The College may restrict future access if necessary to maintain a safe and effective environment.2/5/26
