Definitions
Children – For the purposes of these procedures and pursuant to RCW 13.34.030, RCW 74.13.020 and RCW26.28.010, a child is any individual under the age of 18.
Signs of Infectious Illness - The College has adopted the King County guidelines for the purposes of identifying sick or ill children who may not come to a College worksite.
Infrequent – No more than two times per month and no more than three months per year, for a total of 6 times per year.
Procedural Guidelines
Employees or students who are parents/legal guardians that seek to bring their children to a worksite for infrequent or special circumstances which align with Policy 4127 Children on Campus requirements, may only do so with the prior approval of their supervisor. In the event a supervisor is unavailable for the request, the parent/legal guardian must make the request to the higher-level unit administrator.
It is the responsibility of the supervisor to ensure that the employee complies with the timeline stated above. The supervisor should send an email indicating the approval and what constitutes the allowable usage to ensure both parties are of the same understanding.
- Under no circumstances may a child be brought to campus with signs of an infectious illness.
- Children may not enter any areas marked ascontainingpotentially hazardous equipment or substances or areas designated as unsafe for children per the policy including but not limited to laboratories, workshops, clinical areas, and construction sites or any location where maintenance work is being completed.
Unsupervised children on campus grounds will be referred to public safety for assistance.
