Applicable Code/Law: Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972, Section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Age Discrimination Act of 1975, Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act and Washington State’s Law Against Discrimination, RCW 49.60 

Shoreline College District Number Seven (7) is committed to providing a working and learning environment free from discrimination against and harassment of individuals based on their membership to a protected class. The College does not allow discrimination on the basis of age, citizenship, color, ethnicity, gender/gender identity, genetic information, immigration status, marital status, national origin, physical or mental disability (perceived or actual), pregnancy, political affiliation or belief, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, use of a trained service animal, veteran or disabled veteran status. Prohibited gender-based discrimination includes sexual harassment. 

This policy applies to all College students, employees, volunteers, visitors, contractors/vendors, and individuals participating or attempting to participate in College programs or activities. College programs and activities are defined as all operations of the College, including locations, events, or circumstances where the College has substantial control.  

All College employees, with the exception of those who have job-specific confidentiality requirements such as mental health counselors, are required to report discrimination, including sex-based harassment, to the Title IX/EEO Coordinator. Retaliation against individuals who file reports or otherwise participate in investigative or disciplinary procedures regarding violations of this policy is prohibited.
