Board of Trustees
Dr. Cheryl Roberts will be the next president of Shoreline Community College.
"I think we are getting one of the great ones," Trustee Phil Barrett said following the April 21, 2014 unanimous vote unanimously to offer the position to Roberts.
Roberts was president at Chemeketa Community College, Salem, Ore., for the past seven years. Before Chemeketa, Roberts served as Vice President for Instruction at South Seattle Community College.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Seattle University, a Master of Arts in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education from Ohio State University and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Seattle University.
Roberts said: "Words cannot adequately express my excitement as I prepare to begin my work at Shoreline. This is truly a remarkable opportunity for me.
"Being part of a vibrant college community is about developing strong relationships – relationships that create the conditions where students can experience the best within themselves as they achieve their educational goals. I look forward to lively and caring conversations where we focus on ways to do our best work for students and the community we serve.
"I am also eager to continue the strong tradition of educational excellence at Shoreline."
Roberts' first day as president at Shoreline will be Aug. 1.
