4128 Infants on Campus

Policy Name: Infants on Campus 

Policy Number: 4128 

Applicable Code/Law:  RCW 26.28.010

Purpose 

The College allows employees who are parents or guardians, under specific conditions, to bring their infant (age six weeks to eight months or until crawling) to campus for brief periods.  

Scope 

This policy applies to all College spaces, offices and any other campus location where employees have a designated non-instructional workspace. 

Policy 

  • Permanent employees may participate in the Infants on Campus (IOC) process. 
  • Approval may be rescinded if performance declines, organizational needs are unmet, or disruption occurs. 
  • Infants may be present only on an incidental, short-term basis (see Procedure 4128 for more detail). 
  • Parents must always maintain direct supervision.  
  • Infants may not handle materials or interact with others’ property. 

Concerns & Enforcement 

Any concerns about disruption, safety, should be reported to the appropriate dean, supervisor, or administrator. The College may restrict future access if necessary to maintain a safe and effective environment.
