Shoreline Art Gallery 2026-2027 Exhibition Season

The Shoreline Art Gallery, Building 1000 is pleased to announce its 2026-2027 exhibition season, featuring a diverse lineup of exhibitions that celebrate artistic excellence, cultural storytelling, community partnerships, employee creativity, and student achievement. Throughout the academic year, the gallery will present exhibitions that invite visitors to engage with contemporary issues, personal narratives, cultural traditions, and emerging artistic voices from within and beyond the Shoreline College community.

 

 Fall 2026

 

Artist Closing Reception on Thursday October 15, 2026. 4-530pm.

Through the Lens, a student exhibition featuring documentary photography created through collaborations with regional nonprofit organizations. Through compelling visual storytelling, students explore community experiences and social issues while demonstrating the transformative power of socially conscious photography. 

 

October 19 - November 5, 2026

Dia de los Muertes, a collaborative exhibition featuring an all-employee Day of the Dead altar in partnership with the Yəhaw̓ Center for Student Empowerment. Community members are invited to bring in meaningful items to create their own ofrendas in the gallery space throughout the exhibit to honor and welcome the spirits of our deceased loved ones. The event will also include thematic curated artwork selected by Shoreline student curators.

 

November 16 - December 4, 2026

Reception on December 3. 4-530pm.

Shoreline Showcase: Employee Art Exhibition, an exhibition that celebrates Shoreline College’s diverse and creative visions, voices, and innovations that represent the staff and faculty of Shoreline Community College across all departments and disciplines through fine, performing, and literary arts.

 

 Winter 2027

 December 18, 2026 - February 4, 2027

Exhibition Reception and Student Film Event on January 21. 4-7pm.

Beyond the Number, a powerful exhibition featuring artwork created by individuals currently incarcerated in Washington State. Through themes of trauma, humanity, resilience, and transformation, the exhibition creates opportunities for meaningful dialogue and reflection. Curated by former Shoreline student and activist, Julie Phipps, this exhibit will conclude with a screening of Echoes of Resilience: Short Films by Incarcerated Youth followed by a panel of guests organized by director/producer, Lindy Boustedt of First Sight Productions.

 

February 15 - March 12, 2027

Closing Reception and Award Ceremony on March 11

Shoreline Student Juried Art Exhibition, a showcase of outstanding student work selected through a juried review process. Organized and curated by students in Shoreline’s Gallery Assistantship program, this exhibit presents a wide range of artistic disciplines and featuring the talent of Shoreline students.

 

Spring 2027 

March 22 - May 6, 2027

Artist Reception on April 22

Alan Abdulkader, an exhibition featuring interdisciplinary work that explores memory, migration, identity, and political uncertainty through art, architecture, and writing. Since arriving in the United States as a refugee from Kurdistan, Alan uses art, architecture, and writing, to reflect on a background steeped in political uncertainty and turmoil and how it has impacted his visual making and writings.

 

May 10 - June 10, 2027

Artist Reception on May 20

AFA Thesis Exhibition showcases capstone work by students completing the Associate of Fine Arts degree. Representing the culmination of two years of creative development and study, the exhibition highlights the critical work of student artists completed during their two-year program of study and creative development in the visual arts at Shoreline.

All exhibitions are free and open to the public. Receptions provide opportunities to meet artists, celebrate creative achievement, and engage with the Shoreline community.
