Visual Arts Department
Visual Arts is comprised of two sister programs, Studio Arts and Visual Communication Technology, which together provide a solid foundation in studio art, art history and photography, as well as career-ready training in graphic and interactive design, animation and game art/design. Both well-respected programs work in concert to provide an array of degrees and certificates for transfer or professional training with an emphasis on visual literacy, portfolio development and community building.

Creative Programs for Every Goal
- Studio Arts & Photography: This program focuses on classic arts. You can master painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, or photography.
- Visual Communication Technology (VCT): This is the high-tech side. You can learn graphic design, animation, game art, and creative project managment.
Studio Spaces & Real Gear
- Photography Darkrooms: The school has its own darkrooms where you can develop film, plus a library and studio where you can borrow digital and film cameras to complete your work.
- Computer Labs: You will work in real computer design labs in both Windows and MacOS to bring your digital art to life.
- Art Studios: You get dedicated space to work with clay, paint, draw, or build massive sculptures.
Building Your Future
- Show Off Your Art: You can put your work on display in galleries on campus, publish it in student-run magazines and newspaper, or participate in art club events.
- College Transfer: Shoreline has transfer agreements with four-year universities in Washington State, making it easy to transfer your art credits and graduate on time.
- Find Your Niche: You can pick a highly specific focus to make your portfolio stand out.
