Tour Our Facilities

The Visual Arts Center opened in 1995, consolidating the programs in fine arts and technical arts under one roof. The unique layout and organization of the facility fits the needs of the program’s broad and diverse curriculum. There are 10 studio art labs and 4 digital labs housed in the facility. We have modern, frequently updated equipment appropriate to the learning goals of students.

Fine Arts Studios

The Visual Arts Center has separate dedicated lab facilities for Photography, Sculpture, Painting, Drawing, and Ceramics. The labs are available for studio use outside of class time including nights and weekends.

Design Studio

The Graphic Design studio is used primarily for hands-on aesthetic and concept development, group work and project management so that you can refine your skills.

Computer Labs

The Visual Arts Center houses 3 main computer labs for coursework and 2 smaller labs for special projects and video editing. The large Apple Macintosh computer labs seat 20 students each and are equipped with latest Adobe and Apple software, as well as other boutique software for production. Scanners, pressure-sensitive tablets and video-capture components are mixed throughout for student use.

Photo Lab

The Photo Lab is composed of the b/w gang-darkroom, individual color darkrooms, processing and an equipment library. Equipment such as light meters, tripods, 35mm and 4x5 cameras (digital/film) and lenses are available for student check-out and use.

Print Shop / Copy Center

The Print Shop is easily accessible in the Visual Arts Center. The 2-color Heidelberg Speedmaster, small offset presses, and bindery equipment all serve a unique dual purpose in providing educational application in a production setting. Students learn production processes from concept to finished products. In addition, the campus printing services are routed through the Print Shop.

The Visual Arts Center building allows for student accessibility in displaying student work throughout the building. There are four separate gallery areas in the building, with additional opportunities for students to display their work in the library, Pagoda Union Building (PUB) and College Art Gallery.
