Campus Hazing Transparency Report

Shoreline College is committed to providing a safe educational environment for everyone and does not tolerate hazing by any group or individual affiliated with the College. The College expects that all students and organizations will observe and fully comply with state law, College policies and procedures associated with the prohibition of hazing.

Shoreline College will maintain and publicly report findings of hazing violations by any student organization, athletic team, or living group. The report will include any violations of the code of conduct, anti-hazing policies, or state or federal laws relating to hazing. (RCW 28B.10.906; Section 485(f) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1092(f)))

The report should include the following information: 

  • The name of the student organization, athletic team, or living group;
  • The date the investigation was initiated;
  • The date on which the investigation ended with a finding that a violation occurred;
  • A description of the incident or incidents, including the date of the initial violation, and the violations, findings (including findings, and sanctions placed on the student organization, athletic team, or living group;
  • The details of the sanction or sanctions imposed, including the beginning and end dates of the sanction or sanctions; and 
  • The date the student organization, athletic team, or living group was charged with a violation.

The Student Conduct Code is administered by the office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, coordinated by the Dean of Student Engagement & Retention.  The Vice President maintains jurisdiction over the investigation of hazing allegations, including by student organizations, and the Title IX Coordinator maintains jurisdiction over investigations relating to Title IX and Title VI.

Shoreline College’s Office of Student Life, in collaboration with the Associated Student Government (ASG), coordinates the establishment and oversight of student clubs to ensure student organizations adhere to policies and procedures outlined in the Student Club Handbook, College policy, and applicable state and federal laws.

Reported violations by residents of College policies, their housing license and/or Resident Handbook, within 7000 Campus Living, the College’s residence hall, are investigated by the Residential Life staff. Violations within the residence hall by nonresident students are investigated by the office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, coordinated by the Dean of Student Engagement & Retention.

There were no reports of hazing, including those that might meet the threshold of information to conduct an investigation, regardless of outcome, during the 5-year plus period through Fall quarter, 2025.

Annual statistics on hazing are available in the College’s Annual Security & Fire Safety Report. Please note that hazing statistics will be included beginning with the 2026 report (issued in 2027). Hazing statistics include incident reports that meet the federal definition of hazing in Section 485(f)(6)(A) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C 1092(f)(6)(A)). Such statistics do not reflect actual findings of hazing behavior, which are included in the Campus Hazing Transparency Report.
