Accuplacer: Math Placement

As of April 19, 2018, Shoreline's testing center will no longer be offering Accuplacer exams. However, you can use your Accuplacer test scores from Shoreline, or any other college, for placement up to two years after the test date.  If you have questions about your math placement, please contact mathadvising@shoreline.edu.

ABE Math Foundations: (ABE Math strongly recommended.) An individualized, accelerated, 8-credit, class designed to solidify and build pre-algebra skills. For more information, call  (206) 546 - 4602. (All ABE Math classes cost $25)

MATH 060 Basic Math
  30-120 MATH 070 Introduction to Algebra OR BUS 102 Business Mathematics
(meet with an advisor to select which course meets your degree requirements).
Elementary Algebra 35-62 MATH 098 Intermediate Algebra I
  63-104

Choose from the following courses: 

  • MATH 099, MATH &107, MATH &146*, MATH &171*
  • ECON &201, PHIL &120

Decision Zone:  If preparing for MATH 111 or 141, take MATH 099, or you can enter directly into MATH& 107 or courses with the same prerequisites.  Check your Degree Planning Guide or contact your program advisor to determine what math class you need.
College-Level Math 0-24 MATH 098 Intermediate Algebra I
  25-39

Choose from the following courses: 

    • MATH 099, MATH &107, MATH &146*, MATH &171*
  • ECON &201, PHIL &120

Decision Zone:  If preparing for MATH 111 or 141, take MATH 099, or you can enter directly into MATH& 107 or courses with the same prerequisites.  Check your Degree Planning Guide or contact your program advisor to determine what math class you need.

Choose from the following courses

  • MATH 111, MATH &141
  • CHEM &121, CHEM &171, PHYS 110
  84-102 MATH &142, MATH &148
  103+ MATH& 151

* These courses also have English prerequisites 

Notes:

  • You can always choose a level lower than your placement.

  • Math 007: Self-Paced Mathematics Review; a two-credit face-to-face individualized class held in a computer lab if you earned close to but below the class in which you want to enroll.
