Research Options

Shoreline College offers two ways to be involved in research on our campus:

1. Biotechnology Program; his is focused on the lab skills involved in molecular biology research. Program includes one independent research class, but all lab classes in the program integrate some independent work and the development of technical and soft skills integral to laboratory research. 
   1. Students can do the full Certificate Program for 4 quarters, 10 credits per quarter, or, 
   2. Options to take a subset of courses only, discuss with Postbac advisor and with Biotech advisor.
      Department/instructor permission for enrollment in these courses is necessary. Contact biotech@shoreline.edu
2. Honors College
   1. Postbac students can participate in the Research Track offered by the Honors College. This is a three-quarter program, each year starting in fall quarter and students enroll in one class per quarter. Most students do a literary review project on a topic of their choosing with support of a mentor.
   2. These classes can be taken in-person or online.
   3. The Honors College has an additional quarterly fee of $295

Off-Campus

There are several local organizations with summer research opportunities students can apply to. Additionally, students can often get information about options from their network of Postbac students.

Research Symposium

Each spring quarter, Shoreline College has a Research Symposium where students present a poster and talk about their research. This is hosted by the Biotechnology Program, the Honors College and the Postbac Student Club. All Postbac students are invited to present a poster, even if their research was done off-campus.
