Planning & Institutional Effectiveness (PIE) provides analysis and support for institutional decision-making and planning at all levels throughout the college. The Institutional Research team collects, analyzes, reports, and warehouses quantitative and qualitative data which is used to comply with state and federal regulations, support accreditation, prepare grants, and enhance institutional effectiveness efforts.

• STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT BENCHMARKS – Shoreline Community College benchmarks our students' achievements against three regional peers and two national peers.
• INTEGRATED POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION DATA SYSTEM (IPEDS) - IPEDS is a system of surveys by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and gathers information from every college, university, and technical and vocational institution that participates in the federal student financial aid programs. Under the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, institutions must report data on enrollments, program completions, graduation rates, faculty and staff, finances, institutional costs, and student financial aid.

• DATA DASHBOARDS – Planning & Institutional Effectiveness staff create dashboards using college-level data to support the goal of continuous improvement, especially improving student learning and achievement and closing equity gaps, through data-informed decision making. These tools provide reliable, effective, and real-time access to data around enrollment and student and staff / faculty trends.
