The Writing Studio
The Writing Studio offers one-on-one academic support and instructional resources for all your writing needs!
Do you have a writing assignment? Or need to respond to a class discussion? Maybe even a research paper? Are you writing a personal statement for transferring to a college or university? The Writing Studio offers free, friendly tutoring for writing in any class or subject. Tutors can help you with your writing assignments from start to finish. They will help you brainstorm ideas, create a strong thesis, and better organize your writing.
The Writing Studio (WS) provides opportunities for students to develop writing, reading, and study skills in a friendly lab-like environment. Resources include instructional handouts; books about writing, reading and vocabulary development, and study strategies; eight computers, and free tutorial assistance for reading, writing across the curriculum (e.g. essays, reports, research papers, etc.), and writing for personal advancement (e.g., personal statements, resumes, etc.).
Walk-ins are always welcome, though students may also schedule appointments through Starfish.
Tutoring is available both in-person and online. To meet with a tutor in-person, you can either schedule an appointment or stop by one of the Learning Centers (located in the Library/4000 Building) during scheduled hours. To meet with a tutor online, you can either schedule an appointment or click on the “Meet With A Tutor Online” button below during scheduled hours.

Personal Statement for Transfer Applications Workshops
This year's workshops will be presented as a series. There will be a total of five workshops, each focusing on a different aspect of the personal statement and stage of the writing process. We will guide you through the composition process, one step at a time, giving you the tools you will need to write a winning personal statement. We encourage you to attend each workshop.
All workshops are free to Shoreline students and will be held in-person only. A recording of each workshop will be available at SLC Online following the in-person event.
