Student Learning Center

Comprising two primary learning centers -- the Math and Sciences Learning Center and the Writing Studio -- the Student Learning Center (SLC) provides free tutoring, in-person and online, for most of the classes taught on campus.

Whether you’re looking for help with a specific class, assignment, or concept, prepping for an exam, or simply looking for a positive place to study, the SLC is at your service.

Students may schedule appointments through Starfish or drop by one of the two centers, both located in the 4000 building.

What We Don’t Do

SLC tutors are here to help you learn. We, however, are not instructors and therefore:

• will not do or “check” your homework for you.
• will not guarantee grades on assignments.
• will not make up for instruction missed in class.

Tutoring is available both in-person and online. To meet with a tutor in-person, you can either schedule an appointment or stop by one of the Learning Centers (located in the Library/4000 Building) during scheduled hours. To meet with a tutor online, you can either schedule an appointment or click on the “Meet With A Tutor Online” button below during scheduled hours.

NOTE If you wish to ensure that a tutor is available at a desired time, we highly recommend that you make an appointment. 

Please Be Prepared 

To make the most of your tutoring session, please come prepared. This means that you should have already read the material or worked through the problem before coming to your tutoring appointment. Please bring all relevant materials with you. The more information our tutors have, the more effective they can be. 

Please Be Mindful of Others  

If you are unable to attend your tutoring appointment, please cancel the appointment. If you do not cancel your appointment, the tutor remains booked and cannot assist other students who may need assistance.  

Please Be Respectful  

At the Student Learning Center, we strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for you to learn. Please be respectful and return the favor. We understand that learning can be stressful at times, but please do not take that stress out on our tutors. Tutors are people too.
