Worldviews Symposium

no one's world

FREE and OPEN to the public!

  • October 17 - China
  • October 24 - Russia
  • November 7 - Brazil
  • November 14 - Iran
  • November 21 - Turkey

All events will be in room 9208 of the 9000 Building, unless otherwise noted.

International power and influence are no longer concentrated in one, two or even a handful of (mostly western) nations and their ideas about modernity, democracy, and security. Today it seems that the worldviews of people and governments in place like China, Russia, India, Brazil, Iran, Egypt and Turkey, to name a few, may not be the same and are increasingly important.

This fall the Global Affairs Center at Shoreline Community College will host a series of discussions of the worldviews of selected “rising” world powers. We will discuss the national goals, significant international issues, and resources facing these nations. We will also discuss how they view their role and that of other nations in resolving international conflicts and addressing global challenges. Our aim is to end with a better understanding of similarities and differences in the worldviews of these nations.
