Lawrence D. (Larry) Fuell

Larry is the Director of the Global Affairs Center (GAC) and an International Relations instructor. Prior to joining Shoreline’s faculty in 2006, Larry served more than 20 years in the U.S. government, including as a Foreign Agricultural Affairs Officer in U.S. embassies in Peru, China and Guatemala. He has taught at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, and at the University of Jos in Nigeria, and has traveled in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. Born in Cincinnati, Larry earned his B.A. degree at Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) and his PhD in Political Science at the University of Kentucky.

Elouiessa Muaña

Elouiessa assists with marketing, maintaining the GAC’s Facebook site, assisting at GAC events, and editing video recording of those events for posting on the GAC website. She has always been fascinated by the constant changing world, which is what drew her to the Global Affairs Center and a Shoreline major in International Studies. After completing her studies at SCC, she plans to transfer to the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington. She looks forward in gaining experiences and knowledge that will help her improve her understanding towards multiculturalism. She has a passion in student governance and volunteering.


Ian Waller
Ian assists with marketing - updating the Twitter and Facebook pages as well as the posting of flyers for GAC events around campus. He also works alongside Larry during events greeting the attendees and helping with the question and answer part of the program. As an active student around campus, you can find him working as Vice President of the Worldly Philosophers and Dismal Scientists Society club (W.P.&D.S.S) as well as with student and faculty alike as a Student Representative. Ian is an International Studies major who hopes to begin attending the Jackson School of International Studies in summer of 2014.



Phuong Que Nguyen (Fammi)
Fammi is an international student from Vietnam who is studying international studies at SCC and plans
to go on to earn a four year degree in international relations and plans to work with an international
organization or nongovernment organization. She is also in the Phi Theta Kappa (honors) program and
in a member of the Worldly Philosophers and Dismal Scientists Society club (WPDSS) student club.


Alan Charnley

Alan Charnley, from Richmond Beach, WA, is a Pre-Law student at SCC, with plans to earn a BA in International Studies and a JD in International law. His goal is to work at the U.S. State Department and/or with a nongovernment organization (NGO).  Alan is President of Worldly Philosophers and Dismal Scientists Society (WPDSS) Club, one of the oldest and most active student clubs at Shoreline. 


We are grateful for the support of many offices on the Shoreline campus, especially the Social Sciences Division, the Public Information Office, the Media Center, and the Facilities Department.
