Taiwan Update

Daniel Liao, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle since 2008 will visit Shoreline Community College on November 17.  Director General Liao visited SCC twice in 2009, first, to discuss Taiwan's response to the global financial crisis unfolding at the time, and later to discuss Taiwan's health care system.

 

This is his second assignment in the U.S.  The first was at the Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles from 1985 to 1990.  He has served in several other foreign posts in a career that spans more than 30 years, including as Ambassador to Tuvalu from 2006 to 2008.  He is scheduled to depart Seattle in January for his next assignment in Houston. 

 

Director General Liao was born in Taichung Province (Taiwan) and graduated from Pacific State University in Los Angeles, CA, and the National Cheng Kung University in Tainan City, Taiwan.  He is married, has three daughters, and enjoys reading, golfing, hiking and swimming.
