The why's and how-to's for implementing our design

In August of 2011, Shoreline Community College adopted the Modern Campus Omni CMS (formerly called OmniUpdate) content management system. This was the first step in making the website easier to manage with the ultimate goal of providing a better experience to website visitors and editors alike.

In 2015, Shoreline contracted with a company called iFactory to create an engaging design that responds to a viewer's screen size.

In 2020, the website was updated to align with a recent rebrand, with a focus on the sites homepage and the creation of a global navigation. Along with assistance from independent contractors, the Web Team worked with digital product designer, Joe Shoop, who created design patterns and custom elements, with a focus on accessibility and readability, to use throughout the site.

The website is overseen by Shoreline's Web Workgroup. This group includes faculty and staff from relevant departments, as well as students.

Styles

To preserve a uniform implementation of the website's design, the pages listed in the left navigation are designed to help web content editors work independently while remaining consistent with the site's design and best practices.

Standards

Standards are another way for ensuring consistency. The Web Workgroup sets technological and design standards for Shoreline's website.

The purpose of setting standards is to protect the professionalism and credibility of both the website and the Shoreline Community College "brand." Standards and styles are continually open to review, so if you have feedback, please share it via the website feedback form.
