English Language Learning (ELL)

Welcome!

Shoreline’s ELL (formerly ESL) Program offers English classes for English Language Learners living in Washington state. You can take ELL classes with the Transitional Studies program, even if you have not lived in Washington state for one year.

We offer 7 levels of ELL classes to help students reach their English language goals for work, life, and academics. We have classes for beginner speakers, as well as high-level academic English classes that prepare students to enter Shoreline's degree programs and professional-technical programs.

If you have or are applying for non-immigrant status, such as an F-1 or J-1, please see International Education for program options and details.

Do you want to take ELL (formerly ESL) classes?

Start your application by clicking 'Apply Now'. Apply as soon as possible. Space in our ELL program fills quickly.

Submit an application online.

We are excited to receive your application! To get started, you will need to attend orientation sessions, which happens about a month before classes begin. Space is limited, so we recommend applying as soon as possible. If the upcoming sessions are already full by the time you apply, don't worry—we will place you on a waitlist for the next quarter's orientations as space allows.

Costs
