We Are Hiring! 

Join the art and literary team at Spindrift! 

All positions pay the standard student-employee rate of $16.28/hr. 

We are looking for students to fill various roles. Please read the descriptions for each position carefully. Portfolios are required for Editor positions. 

Art Editor: Submit examples of projects using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. 
Literary Editor: Submit four poems and an essay or short story. 

Eligibility 

Students need to maintain six credits per quarter to qualify to work for Spindrift.

All positions must attend weekly full staff meetings, occasional art/lit team meetings, and staff events. 

Available Positions 

Managing Editor 

  • Oversee, guide, and assist the team with all activities. 
  • Help faculty advisors with production scheduling and management. 
  • Communicate with contributors regarding submissions, publications, etc. 
  • Strong skills in reading, writing, proofreading, communication, and leadership are required. 

Social Media & Marketing Manager 

  • Network, negotiate, and manage bureaucratic processes effectively. 
  • Clearly communicate Spindrift’s mission to the community. 
  • Lead in posting flyers, arranging events, setting up, cleaning up, and greeting at events. 
  • Promote Spindrift across multiple social media platforms. 

Literary Editor 

  • Focus on soliciting submissions of literature and other artistic mediums. 
  • Log and process literature submissions. 
  • Work with the Lit team to read and assess submitted work to make final selections for publication. 
  • Work with the team to pair literary work with artwork. 
  • Proofread and edit selected pieces prior to publication. 
  • Strong proofreading, assessment, and organizational skills required. 
  • Must be able to meet tight deadlines. 

Literary Assistant 

  • Work closely with Lit Editor and other assistants to make final selections for publication. 
  • Assist with pairing, proofreading, and editing prior to publication. 
  • Ability to follow instructions, collaborate, and assist editors with various tasks required. 

Art Assistant 

  • Focus on soliciting submissions of visual artwork. 
  • Work closely with the Art Editor and other assistants to brainstorm and design the publication. 
  • Collaborate with the Art Advisor on book design. 
  • Assist with pairing and proofreading prior to publication.
