Honor Society for Associate Degree Nursing Students at Shoreline Community College
In the Spring of 2012, the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (N-OADN) approved the formation of a national honor society for Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) programs.
Shoreline Community College Nursing Program has been chartered as the Delta Eta Chapter of Alpha Delta Nu. Membership is voluntary. To be considered for membership:
- Students must have attained a 3.0 overall GPA for all prerequisite courses.
- Students must have attained and maintained a 3.0 GPA in all nursing courses (with no previous failures of any nursing courses)
- Students must have demonstrated conduct on campus and in the clinical areas that reflect integrity and professionalism.
- Students must complete a group capstone project on a health teaching project and give a public presentation of the project.
A student inducted into the Delta Eta Chapter has shown excellence in their academic, clinical, and professional behaviors that qualify them for membership in the honor society. Benefits of membership include recognition at the pinning ceremony upon graduation from the nursing program and potential for scholarship opportunities with Sigma Theta Tau for bachelor's and master's degrees.
SCCANS
SCCANS is the Shoreline Community College Association of Nursing Students. It is a student-led organization for past, current, and future nursing students at Shoreline Community College in Seattle, Washington. Every student enrolled in the Shoreline Nursing Program is automatically a member of SCCANS. In addition to providing a supportive network for incoming and current nursing students, SCCANS provides opportunities for students to become involved in community outreach and fundraising, as well as to participate with nursing instructors in several committees that directly affect our SCC nursing community and curriculum.
