Study Abroad – Study Away Scholarships
The Gilman International Scholarship provides grants of up to $5,000 to students receiving a Federal Pell Grant who study
abroad. Contrary to popular belief, students have a better chance of getting this
scholarship than getting hit by lightning. Much better: More than 1 in 3 applicants
for the Gilman Scholarship receives some funding.
The International Education department, in partnership with the College Foundation,
offers limited scholarships for Shoreline's faculty-led study abroad and study away
programs. Please contact studyabroad@shoreline.edu for more details.
The Fund for Education Abroad offers a range of scholarships, one of which is open to all students. Awards are up to about $3,000 for a quarter-long study abroad program. For shorter study abroad programs, awards will be lower.
Scholarships of $500 and $1,000 are available for WCCCSA programs; see specific destination pages for more information.

Tips for Financing your Study Abroad Experience
Studying abroad can be an expensive endeavor but anyone who has done it will tell you it is worth every cent!
Look for scholarships! Give yourself plenty of time.
Step 1: Shop around and make sure you are paying a fair price for the program.
Step 2: Apply for federal financial aid! If you already qualify for aid, you may qualify for more when studying abroad because the cost of your education is higher. (This changes your "need" ratio.)
Step 3: Please contact the Shoreline Office of Financial Aid as early in the process as possible.
