Become a Member

To be eligible for Phi Theta Kappa, you must have earned 12 credits at Shoreline Community College and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5. New members may join at any time once school begins in September until May 1st.

  1. Fill out the Phi Theta Kappa Membership Application and the local Pi Iota Chapter application (Word).
  2. Pay a one-time $75.00 membership fee to the Cashier’s Office with a check/debit or credit card. This covers both the International/Regional membership fee ($65) and the local Pi Iota chapter fee ($10). Please turn in a copy of your receipt with your application.
  3. Submit the filled out application forms, along with a copy of your current transcript and the receipt from the cashier’s office to Audrey Reuter at areuter@shoreline.edu. The transcripts you submit may be unofficial copies.
  4. On the day you turn in your complete application, send an e-mail to areuter@shoreline.edu to confirm your Shoreline e-mail address. If your e-mail address is not correct or working, there is no way for the national organization or local chapter to contact you. You must use your Shoreline e-mail account (no other contacts are acceptable).

Your membership will be processed as soon as possible. You should receive a confirmation email and certificate from the International Organization once your membership application is completed. This process often takes several weeks.

To display their academic achievement, members may wear a Phi Theta Kappa honors stole during Commencement. To purchase a stole, visit the national PTK shop.
