Military Credits Procedure

Shoreline Community College follows the recommendations of the American Council on Education (ACE) when evaluating military training and education records.

Typically, a student veteran pursuing a transfer degree may earn a maximum of 15-credits in the form of restricted electives for prior military training & service.

Student veterans pursuing professional/technical degrees are referred to the faculty in their program for an evaluation of military credits on a case-by-case basis. It is sometimes possible to award credit for military service that is directly applicable to the intended professional/technical degree.

The Department of Veteran Affairs requires that all student veterans submit an official military transcript to Shoreline Community College for evaluation if you plan to utilize your GI Bill® benefits.

The Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard provide Joint Service Transcriptswhich can be ordered online. Please indicate that you would like your official transcript sent to Shoreline Community College; the transcript is then provided to the college electronically.

The Air Force provides Community College of the Air Force Transcripts. Please indicate that you want your Air Force Transcript sent to Shoreline Enrollment Services.

Upon ordering your military transcript, please check in with the Veteran & Military Student Services Office for an evaluation of your military credits.
