Three Way Charades (Speaking/Acting/Drawing)
Goal: This is a two part game. In the first
part, you need to get your teammates to guess the word you are thinking about by
talking about it. In the second part, you need to get your teammates to say the
word by acting without saying any words.
Directions for Part 1: Speaking
1) On small pieces of paper, everyone writes
down 10 nouns and 10 verbs.
2) Mix all the words together and then divide
them in two, with half of the words going into one box and half of them going
into another box
3) Divide the players into two teams.
4) One player from the first team takes one
of the envelopes, takes out a piece of paper, and has 1 minute to get their team
to guess the word on that paper by describing it, giving examples, similar
words, opposite words, or anything else they can think of to get their team to
guess correctly. However, You cannot use any words that use part of the
original word. For example if the word is "bookstore," you cannot say
"book" or "store." If the word is "electrician"
you cannot say "electricity" or "electric. Also, you cannot say
the names of any letters or try to spell the word in any way. You must use
English only when playing the game.
5) If the team guesses the word correctly,
take another word and continue until the minute is over. The team earns 1 point
for every word that they guessed correctly.
6) After one minute, someone from the other
team takes a turn and continues the game. Go back and forth until every player
had a chance to go. Whichever team guesses the most words wins.
Directions for Part 2: Acting (Charades)
1) Mix all the words up again, and then
divide them back into separate boxes with half of them going into one box and
half going into the other.
2) Play again like you did in part one,
except this time you cannot use any words. You should act and make sounds.
Directions for Part 3: Drawing (Pictionary)
1) Mix all the words up one more time, and
then divide them back into separate boxes with half of them going into one box
and half going into the other.
2) Play again like you did in part one and
two, except this time you must draw to get your teammates to guess the word. You
may not use any letters or numbers when you draw. You also cannot make any
sounds or act.

Board Game.
You will need either the PDF or the Microsoft Word version of the board game and either a stack of number cards or a die to play this game
Create a stack of vocabulary cards that you want to study, and lay these vocabulary side down on the table next to the board.
Rules:
All players start at "Start." The first player rolls the die or picks a number card to see how far he or she can go. When players land on "pronounce it," "give a definition," "use it in a sentence," or "give a synonym or antonym," they should pick up a vocabulary card and follow that direction. All other players judge to see if the player is right or wrong. If a player lands on "spell it," the player to his or her right should read the word to the player whose turn it is. The player whose turn it is may not see the card.
If players get correct answers, they may roll the die or pick a number to move forward. If they get incorrect answers, they may not move forward until after getting a correct answer on their next turn.
