It is difficult to look at a computer screen for a long time.
Here are 3 ideas to help.
1)
Look
away! Blink more! Every 15 to 20 minutes, look at
something that is far away from you. This will help your eyes focus on different
objects. Also, according to Reid
Goldsborough people don't blink as often when concentrating on the
computer screen and this can make your eyes tired. The same is true with reading
books for a long period of time.
2) Increase the size of the words. Big words are easier to read than small words. If you press and hold the ctrl key at the same time you press the + key, most websites will show larger words. You can press these keys many times. This works in Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer.
3) If these don't help, use your printer! The point of online classes is to make life easier for you. They are designed to let you study anywhere at anytime. Online classes should help you avoid headaches, by not having to sit in traffic or look for parking spaces. If reading long items on the computer screen hurts, print these pages out. If you were in a "regular" class, you would be reading handouts and books. You can still do this. To print only part of an Internet page, highlight that part, press ctrl and P at the same time, and then choose "print selection." This will save you from wasting too much ink and paper.
