Transfer Students – Questions and Answers

What steps do I take to transfer to a 4-year school?

  • Contact your advisor for a preliminary degree audit
  • Attend a Transfer Fair or an Information Session at the University or program of your choice
  • Attend workshops and presentations on Shoreline Community College’s campus that may assist you in preparing a personal statement, funding your education and learn more about program of your choice.

Do any Shoreline Community College degrees transfer directly to a 4-year school?
Yes, the Associate in Arts and Sciences (A.A.S.), the Associate in Fine Arts (A.F.A.) and Associate in Science (A.S.) degrees transfer directly to a 4-year school. For any other degrees, you should contact your advisor.

How do I know which Shoreline Community College courses will transfer?

Up to date information on course equivalencies and program requirements are now best viewed online.  Fewer colleges and universities are providing us with paper transfer guides. Advising and Counseling does maintain selected transfer guides which by calling (206) 546-4559.

I'm a science major -- which two-year degree should I go for?

Probably the best degree for you will be the Associate in Science degree, which emphasizes the pre-requisite science and math courses required for a specific science major. Consult with a Science program advisor on this; which degree is best depends on your targeted major.
