Text: Single Variable Calculus Early Transcendentals, Fourth Edition by James Stewart

Worksheets: We will do worksheets regularly in class. These will be done in groups & you are supposed to help your group-mates. These will help you learn the course material by doing problems, sharing your thoughts, ideas with your class mates & explaining math to them. All the worksheets are available here. However I might change some of them.

HW: Homework from the text will be assigned, but it will not be collected & graded.

Quizzes: Quizzes will be heavily dependent on the homework. There will be 6 of them & the worst one will be dropped. You can use the corresponding homework while taking it. They will be on the Mondays starting the 2nd week & will cover whatever is covered in class the week before.

Exams: All exams will be at CMU 226. You can bring one page both sides hand written notes for the exam. You should not require a calculator. More on this closer to exam date(s). All exams will be during regular class hour. There will be 2 midterms & 2 finals on the dates mentioned below.

Syllabus

Course Description:
Algebra, trigonometry & differentiation are prerequisites for this course. It will be assumed that you are thoroughly familiar with the techniques of algebra and trigonometry from Math 120 and derivatives from Math 124. If you need to, review these, please do so by the end of the first week. Here is an outline of the sections of our texts that we will cover, as well as some worksheets & old quizzes. Bear in mind this is only an outline & subject to change.

Be sure to keep up with the material covered in class. It is strongly recommended that you read material before it is covered in class. If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to find out all information from the class you missed, including material covered, homework assigned & any other announcements made.

Also Math Study Center (MSC) is a great place to study, do homeworks & discuss math. There will be tutors who can help you one-o-one. If you have never been there, do try it out.
