Bellevue College is interested in developing an applied bachelor’s degree program in
Health Information Technology (IT). Health IT is a rapidly growing field,
and there is great demand for workers with knowledge in IT and healthcare.
Health IT is the application of computer information systems to the healthcare environment.
Graduates from the bachelor degree in Health IT would be prepared to work
in teams to effectively manage and perform the customization, implementation,
integration, maintenance of healthcare information systems, data and components in large
and mid-size healthcare organizations. Starting salaries in this field are between $45,000-75,000.
The program would offer the last two years for the bachelor’s
degree and would be open to anyone with an associate degree who
has completed courses in IT or Health Information Management/Informatics.
The degree would be offered completely online and would be an excellent alternative for
associate degree graduates who aren’t accepted into more traditional four-year programs.
We would very much like to get your opinion on whether there is
sufficient student interest for a bachelor’s degree program in this field.
