These are the Four Hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa and the purpose of Phi Theta
Kappa is to recognize academic excellence, provide opportunities to develop
leadership skills and service to the school and community.
Membership requirements are based on academic achievement (3.2 G.P.A. for
Provisional membership and 3.5 for Active membership). See the Pi Iota Chapter Constitution for specific Membership Requirements.
Steps to join Phi Theta Kappa: Spring 2008
1) To be eligible for Phi Theta Kappa you must have earned 12 credits at Shoreline CC and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5. Pick up the applications outside room 5359 in the FOSS building. Fill out the two application forms. One is for the international organization and the other for our local Pi Iota Chapter.
2) Attach a copy of you current transcripts to your completed application forms. Transcripts may be unofficial copies.
3) Include a $60 check for the international membership fee and the local Pi Iota chapter fee written out to Shoreline Community College. In the note section write your student number/PTK.
4) Put your membership application forms, transcipts and checks in one of the manila envelopes located outside room 5359. Seal and address the envelope to Robert Hayden/PTK advisor and place in his mailbox or drop off at the Intra American Studies/Social Sciences division office.
5) Your membership will be processed as soon as possible. You should receive a confirmation from the International Organization once your membership is completed.
6) The advisor for the 2007/2008 school year is Dr. Robert Hayden.

The Pi Iota Chapter at Shoreline Community College makes it easy to be a member
no matter how busy your schedule. If you choose not to participate in the
rewarding and fun events, you will continue to receive Phi Theta Kappa
Benefits.

application.
