Identify audience and purpose
Use complex clauses (adverbial, noun, and adjective)
Communicate main ideas and use clear supporting details
Revise and edit based on feedback
Use level appropriate common and academic vocabulary

Reading:
Accurately comprehend various types of level appropriate written materials (fictional and non-fictional texts that bridge personal and academic themes)
Accurately interpret  graphs
Identify main ideas and support of a variety of pre-college level readings on a variety of topics
Apply reading skills (predicting, skimming/scanning, making inferences, identifying main idea, summarizing, drawing conclusions)
Apply word identification strategies for unfamiliar words.
Understand the relationship between ideas (time, logical order, comparison/contrast, cause/effect)
