Driving? Here are some tips
to stay safe in harsh weather
conditions:
Drive slowly and leave plenty of
distance between yourself and other
vehicles. Ice may still be present
in shady areas around trees even
if the temperature is well above
freezing, so leave plenty of room
to stop.
Don’t assume that your vehicle
can handle all driving conditions.
Even four-wheel drive vehicles
don’t always overcome road
conditions.
Don’t hold the accelerator if
your car starts to skid. If you start
skidding, keep your foot off the accelerator
and try to steer the car
in the direction you want it to go.
Once the tires start regaining traction,
tap the accelerator without
holding it down.
Plan for any situation. Be sure
to always keep jumper cables and a
properly inflated spare tire. A small
shovel, toolbox and bag of salt can
also help if you do find yourself
stuck in snow.
