The SCC Student Body Association
(SBA) is holding open “press conferences” for students, faculty and administration members.
The goal of the SBA is to inform
the SCC community of their activities and to receive feedback about their decisions.
“Our goal is transparency and accessibility,” says Ivanhoe, SBA President.
Although the format is currently
flexible, they will always try to have a question-and-answer session
that is open to all. Participation
is encouraged because the conferences were established to provide SCC with the most up-to-date information on SBA activities.
The SBA is attempting to facilitate more interaction between
the student government, its affiliates and the SCC community
in order to improve their representation of SCC students.
“If you’re asking questions, the best place to do it is the press conference or the student government
office. It depends how much confidentiality the student (or faculty or administration member) wants to have,” says Ivanhoe. “It’s a really good opportunity
for students to ask us general questions in a more informal
setting than the senate and executive board meetings.”
