PUB food... could be better

Am I the only one who thinks that PUB food is mediocre, or
what? No disrespect but, I've tasted better food. I mean, while we students
don't expect a 5-star hotel-comparable cuisine, the least I'd expect of
campus food would be something I'd be able to gorge down my throat
willingly.
Let me provide an illustration to express the degree of my
discontent. On a typical day, I have to wake up early for my 7:30 a.m.
class. Morning rush, got no time for breakfast. After three straight hours
of classes, my stomach's rumbles can match any '70's vintage engine. Usually
I'd run all the way to the PUB, planning to grab some food "err wait, nice,
yesterday's teriyaki again. Wow. DŽjˆ vu!"
It really doesn't help that it
rains 70 percent of the year in Shoreline. I've got no car, no umbrella, and
definitely no plans on getting wet before my next lab class. So, being an
economical individual, I do the conventional thing: I stay in the PUB and
settle for a banana muffin and Coke. I would really appreciate it if there
was more variety of food there. At least then I'd be having a less grumpy
lunch hour. Maybe they could invite a guest cook once a month. Hopefully
Mexican or Japanese cuisine. I'm just pushing my luck, of course. Oh
well...
And may I add that in addition to the lack of variety and quality of
food and beverages, they are somewhat a little "overpriced" too. Maybe it's
because I'm a little stingy, but a bottle of Starbucks Frappuchino for $2,
sir no sir, no deal. Somehow the water cooler at the far end of the PUB is
starting to look really enticing...
I have to admit, however, there are some
classic dishes in the PUB cafeteria that I enjoy. The likes of shrimp fried
rice and farmhouse omelet, costing $4.95 each, without tax. Hmm... the sweet
taste of summer. Makes me wonder though, would renovating the PUB for 18
months affect business? I'm digressing of course...
Well, all the best to
you lunch-hunting students and staff!
