The 'Price' of Fame, and Football Shane Suzuki
Ebbtide Ranter
So, it turns out that going to strip clubs, buying drinks for students and having a stripper stay in your hotel room while ringing up a $1000 bill on the company credit card will get you fired. Say it ain't so.
Mike Price, current Alabama football coach and former WSU coach, was fired last Saturday after being found guilty of the above offenses.
The rant here isn't the deplorable behavior, or even the fact that we haven't heard about all the offenses that Price has committed (the school has said that they know more then they have released) but the fact that most of the countries sports commentators are siding with Price!
Price has come out and apologized, and even has the support of his team and many fans. But that doesn't make what he did any less wrong. He was warned a week before his run in with the stripper about his alcohol consumption and public image. Evidently, this has been an ongoing problem with Price for the last four months since he was hired.
When you are the leader of a major athletic program that is one of the most popular and respected in the nation, when you are the figurehead of a program that is purporting to teach boys how to become men, when you are the highest paid state employee that has been warned to watch his behavior, there is no other option.
