Q: How do I allow pop-ups on the Blackboard site?

If you have a pop-up blocker on your computer there is a setting where you can allow pop-ups on specific sites. Pop Up Blockers must be turned off when using Blackboard. Be sure to turn off Pop Up Blockers that come with your browser as well as third-party blockers that come with programs such as Google Tool Bar.

To allow popups in Internet Explorer:

1. Click on Tools in the menu bar
2. Choose Internet Options
3. Click on Privacy tab
4. In the Popup Blocker area, click the Settings button
5. Enter http://shoreline.blackboard.com in the Address of Web Site to Allow field and click Add
6. Click on Close

To allow popups in Firefox

1. click on Tools in the menu bar
2. Select Options
3. then select the Content panel
4. In the content panel:
   Click Exceptions: This is a list of sites that you want to allow to display pop-ups.
   Click Allow: this will allow Blackboard to the exceptions list.

To allow popups in Safari

1. choose Preferences in the main menu bar
2. Click on the Security heading
3. Uncheck the box marked Block pop-up windows to allow popups
4. Click on the OK to change the setting
5. Restart Safari.

Note: make sure that any third-party popup blocking software is disabled.
