Hi – I am Psychology professor Diana E. Knauf, and I have been at
Shoreline Community College since 1998, but am currently working
virtually from Shanghai, China. While in China, I am teaching
Psychology 100 (General Psychology), Psychology 200 (Lifespan
Development), and Psychology 208 (Adulthood: Aging and Development).
All courses are offered online, something I have been doing since 1999.
I advise students who are interested in Psychology or planning to transfer to a Psychology program to obtain a bachelor’s degree. I am also one of Shoreline’s first eAdvisors, providing advising to eLearning students and Psychology majors by way of email and web applications. I believe that the goal of learning is to gain information and skills that allow us to live better out in the real world. It is also important to me that students have fun while learning what they need to know. When on campus I have sometimes been referred to as the Dr. Ruth of Shoreline, teaching Human Sexuality (Psychology 210) both as a stand-alone course, and also as a part of an Interdisciplinary course (courses that combine more than one discipline). With colleagues Rachel David (Women’s Studies) and Brooke Zimmers (Interpersonal Communication), Intersextions explores the connections between sex, power, communication, gender and relationships. Look for it next in 2011! I received my Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology from Fordham University in New York City. My research interests include: street harassment, mastery motivation and cross-cultural psychology. Publications are available on request.
