She has been the program director since June 2003. She believes people learn best by taking an active role and directing their own learning with the teacher as more of a guide.” I like to break complex tasks into small component parts to enable the student to easily learn each step before proceeding to the next step, and I firmly believe that learning is best accomplished in a positive and supportive atmosphere.”

Nikki Honey, DDS

Besides being the supervising dentist at Shoreline’s Dental Hygiene Program, she teaches Local Anesthesia and Pain Control, Oral Pathology and Periodontology. She enjoys working with both the first and second year students, and teaches students while doing dental exams for patients at the Shoreline dental hygiene clinic. In her teaching style, she likes to emphasize current concepts and their applications in clinical practice. Her clinical focus is early detection and treatment of oral diseases, as well as the connection of oral and systemic diseases.

My goal is to provide an environment supportive of individual student goals for education as well as program goals and objectives. The key to an optimal educational experience is for both the student and the instructor to keep the lines of communication flowing and to remain open minded and curious.”
