– Layers 1 & 2
– Process information related to form, movement, depth,
small changes in brightness
– Connected mostly with rods

Parvocellular layer (P layer) has smaller cell bodies
– Layers 3 through 6
– Process information related to color and fine detail
– Connected mostly with cones

Koniocellular layer
– Connected mostly with blue cones
