 Whether you are just getting started or already operating your own business, this series will help you manage the challenges every small business owner faces.

FINANCING YOUR BUSINESS--NEW

Most start-up businesses require some financing in order to make them viable. Learn what you need to submit for business loans. Find out what the 5 C's are and why they are important in obtaining a loan. What are typical uses for funding start-ups? Financing is used for equipment, furniture, inventory, working capital, manufacturing or technology-based production, commercial or mixed use real estate, contract financing, cash flow restructuring and construction contract receivables.

ACHIEVING GREAT RESULTS IN SMALL BUSINESS--NEW

In this comprehensive, hands-on, engaging course, I've tailored some of the best business success models to answer the unique challenges of small businesses. Learn techniques to develop your core business, attract customers you serve best, and see yourself and your customers through new eyes. You'll also learn methods to expand your business without getting bigger and measure how well your business is thriving.  Case studies will be presented and discussed in class to demonstrate real-world applications.

QUICKBOOKS - PAYROLL--NEW

Learn how to set up and process payroll using QuickBooks. Topics include setting up and configuring payroll, state and federal taxes, fringe benefits, sick leave and vacation accruals, timekeeping, printing checks, doing customizing reports, and W-2/ W-3 forms. We will also cover a variety of payroll additions and deductions including bonuses, overtime, reimbursements, loans and advances. Students should have basic knowledge of payroll rules and experience using QuickBooks. Learning materials presented in class. Mark Guidry has been a small business owner and has over 20 years of bookkeeping and accounting experience in small and medium size businesses.

Small Business Accelerator

The Accelerator assists business owners and entrepreneurs to start-up, plan, expand or grow their small business.  One-on-one counseling programs are project-based, and driven by an action plan to achieve specific business goals. Accelerate your business by emailing Mark at accelerator@shoreline.edu to arrange a free interview. The Accelerator is funded by the Herbert B Jones Foundation and is a free service to qualifying business.

 

HOW TO WRITE A SINGLE-PAGE BUSINESS PLAN-THAT WORKS!—NEW

The Quick-Plan (single-page business plan) is a tool that can help all of us, whether we are just in the idea stage of business planning or are in business and never took the time for this important exercise. This workshop is designed to help you think, plan, and put down on paper your vision, goals and plan to start or grow your business. It will also take you to the next level in business planning. Each student will leave with worksheets and the beginning of their own Quick Plan.
