Search Begins Search For New Men's Basketball Coach: Shoreline Community College has begun a search for its next Men's Basketball Coach. Please go to this Human Resource Link for information about the position and the application process for the job: http://www.shoreline.edu/hr/part-tim.htm Women's Soccer Announces 2008-09 Commitments: Shoreline Community College Women's Soccer Coach Mark Szabo has announced eight student-athlete commitments to play women's soccer for the Lady Dolphins in 2008-09. The talented group of new comers will join 7 members of the 2007 squad that posted a 14-5-2 record and finished third at the NWAACC Championships. SCC lost to eventual champion Clackamass Community College 2-1 in the semifinals and then defeated Highline CC 3-0 for third place. The Shoreline team has won the Northern Region Championship for the third consecutive year and produced two NWAACC All-Star players in 2007. The newcomers for 2008 are: Kat Donovan, Redmond HS, will play between the posts for us next Fall. She has had an outstanding club career with FC Alliance, and was All-Kingco and All-State in 2007. She brings size, strength and experience to SCC, and we hope that she will become one of the best keepers in the league. Another defensive player signed is Nicole Chapin. She was a two time All-Evergreen selection while playing for Aberdeen. We see her coming in and, with her athletic ability and speed, challenging for a starting spot in our back four… and developing into a solid outside back. Cassie Jongejan, who graduated from Lake Stevens HS in 2006, is another exceptional defender, as she was both All-Wesco and All-State in 2005. After getting back into the swing of things, we see her becoming the backbone of our defense for the next two years. Lindsey Bredice, Bothell HS, and Rochelle Hann, Lynnwood HS, are both special players that played for struggling programs in high school. They both have great athletic ability, with the heart and effort that every coach wants in a players. They can play either as defensive mids or as centerbacks, and we see them both becoming important parts of one of the best defenses in the NWAACC. To help out on the offensive end, Alexandra Navlet, Meadowdale HS, and Tiffany Smith, Kamiak HS, will both be looking to make an impact for the Dolphins. Alexandra was a 1st team All-Wesco selction in 2007, and we see her coming in as a centermid that will become one of the top creators in the league. Tiffany will bring her speed and desire to our frontline, and with her focus on improving, will develop into a player that opponents must worry about. And lastly, Lauren Sego, Shorewood HS, will be bringing her athletic abilities to the team.. Lauren graduated in 2006 and went to WSU after being recruited for track and field. She will return to competitive soccer after a few years off, but we are confident that she will return to the form that saw her as a force up front for her select and HS teams.
