WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY

HOTEL AND RESTAURANT ADMINISTRATION

INFORMATION

Shoreline Community College/Advising and Counseling Center 1998-1999

WSU operates three centers for Hotel and Restaurant Administration. The Pullman campus is the third oldest in the country to offer a four year degree in this specialized field. The WSU Seattle center offers the same program for residents of the Puget Sound Region. The HRA Swiss Center in Brig, Switzerland also provides instruction for some students from the WSU H.R.A. program

The WSU Seattle program is located on the campus of Seattle Central Community College.

Students transferring to either program are strongly encouraged to earn the Shoreline Associate in Arts and Sciences Degree - Business Transfer Option A which incorporates the WSU Business Core requirements and selected general courses into their course work. Students who transfer without completing Shoreline’s Arts and Sciences Degree - Option A must complete all of WSU’s General Education Requirements including the new "Areas of Coherence" requirement in order to earn a degree from WSU. The latter option requires close coordination with an advisor.

In order to be certified into the Hotel and Restaurant Administration Program, students must meet all certification requirements including one of the following G.P.A. combinations:

A. 2.6 cumulative G.P.A. and 2.0 Business G.P.A.

B. 2.6 Business G.P.A. and 2.0 cumulative G.P.A.

Students working toward the degree of B.A. in Hotel and Restaurant Administration will have to complete 1,000 hours of practical experience for a total of two semester credits. The work experience may be completed by either full-time or part-time employment while attending WSU. This requirement must be fulfilled prior to enrolling for final term.
