* 'Oliver!' comes to SCC

SHORELINE - Musicals are magical.  They are one of those rare things that never lose popularity.  They continue to draw crowds for not only the music, but the story lines, the costumes and the stage sets.  The spring musicals produced at Shoreline Community College offer all of that and more.

This year’s spring musical performed by music and drama students is Oliver!, book, music and lyrics by Lionel Bart.  Oliver! Is transformed from Charles Dickens novel, Oliver Twist, and offers such familiar tunes as “Food, Glorious, Food,” “Consider Yourself,” “As Long as He Needs Me,” “It’s a Fine Life,” and “Where is Love?”  The production is at 7:30 p.m., May 29, 30 and 31 in the Campus Theater.

This much-loved tale follows the orphaned boy, Oliver and his search for love and family as he confronts poverty, cruelness, and thievery before finding courage, love, and a sense of place.  Oliver! is co-produced by Susan Dolacky and Charles Enlow, music instructors at the college.  Ann Arends directs, Teresa Metzger-Howe conducts, and Erin Mitchell is choreographer.

General admission is $15, $10 for seniors, students, and $8 for SCC students with college ID and children 14 and younger.  Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance by calling 206.546-4606.  Credit cards accepted.
