Getting Started with Blackboard

Get an overview of Blackboard, the web-based software used at SCC for supplemental, hybrid and online classes. In this workshop, you will view basic course design and begin loading content. Please bring your employee ID number if you would like to participate in the hand-on activities. All are welcome—the workshops are not discipline-specific and no registration is required.

Blackboard Drop-in Hour

Join your colleagues to share and develop course designs in Blackboard. The eLearning team will bring in handouts of best teaching practices, but no formal "training" will be presented. Instead, enjoy this collaborative space to discuss and create courses. We invite anyone who is using Blackboard as a supplemental resource as well as those who teach only online or anything in between.

An Orientation to Blackboard's Assignment Tool

Available for check-out for one week at the Circulation Media desk at the Library, building 4000.

To begin, have an assignment ready in an electronic file that you wish to upload to your Blackboard classroom. You can watch/listen to the DVD while looking at your own computer screen and at the agenda while logged into Blackboard. The computer screen is a little hard to see on the DVD for this one, but the audio is good.

Getting Started Teaching Online Using Blackboard

Available for check-out for one week at the Circulation Media desk at the Library, building 4000.

In Part I, you will login to Blackboard and learn how to get a Bb classroom and make it available to students.Please have your employee ID ready (a 9 digit number that begins with 965.)

Part 2 discusses course design/organization. You will learn how to add content (a folder and a file), an announcement, and a gradebook item. You can view the DVD while looking at your own computer screen and at the agenda while logged into Bb. You will want access to the following Blackboard classrooms: Blackboard Users Group, Bb Orientation Demonstration Classroom, and Lesson Based Course Template.
