Education Program 2007-2008
AAAS Degree :
Early Childhood Educator/Paraeducator
Program Description
The Education Programs are
designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary
for employment in a variety of social and educational agencies.
Based on personal and career interests, students may select one of
three AAAS degree options: Early Childhood Education, Special
Education and Bilingual/Bicultural Education. These programs are
designed to meet endorsement requirements set by the Office of the
Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). Shoreline also offers
two Certificates of Proficiency programs: In-Home Care Provider and
Instructional Aide/Paraeducator.
Students learn about
the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of
children as well as specific strategies for encouraging healthy
development. Students also learn how to develop group activities,
plan a curriculum, positively guide an individual child and groups
