Shoreline Community College's Biotechnology Lab Specialist Program is one of the only remaining programs providing instruction and lab experience for entry level technicians.

How does the SCC Biotech Program serve the industry?

By providing laboratory experience for the entry level scientist/technician.  Students receive twelve hours of training in the lab perweek and over 400 hours for the year.

Who does Shoreline train?

60% of our students already have 4 year degrees; they come to SCC because they don't have the skills to compete for entry level jobs in the industry.

What does Shoreline teach?

  • Media and solution preparation
  • Laboratory safety/working with hazardous materials
  • Recombinant DNA
  • Protein biochemistry/purification
  • Bioinformatics
  • Immunological techniques
  • Cell culture

What are Shoreline's Biotech facilities like?

How can industry help the Biotech Lab Specialist Program at Shoreline Community College?

Today's need for well-trained lab technicians is greater than ever, but training is expensive both for the college and the students. Private support is needed now to continue to educate the region's excellent lab technicians at Shoreline Community College.
